Two French tourists got into trouble after collecting two handfuls of sand from the sea as souvenirs. He is involved in a legal entanglement in Italy.
According to the law of the country, they can be jailed for 1 to 6 years and also have a financial penalty! This incident happened in an area on the southern coast of Sardinia, Italy. It is known that two French tourists visited this area last week. They also spent time at Kia Beach in Sardinia. On the way back, bottle some sand as a souvenir of the trip from this beach.
However, the Italian security guards noticed that matter. The two tourists were arrested immediately. Only 41 kg of sand was recovered from them. Which these two tourists were carrying separately in 14 bottles.
Illegal removal of sand from beaches is a crime under Italy's environmental protection laws. As punishment for this crime, the country has also provided for jail and fine. According to the provisions of this law, two tourists can be jailed for 1 to 6 years. They can also be fined 3,000 euros.
It has been reported that this law has been enforced in Sardinia's coastal areas since August 2017. Although the two accused French tourists claimed that they did not know anything about this law.
Previously, tourists visiting here used to collect sand, pebbles and oysters from the beach. Later they were also sold online at high prices.
In this regard, the embassy in Rome warned, apparently it seems to be a very common thing, but these incidents were causing significant damage to the environment, which is why efforts are being made to prevent them by law. However, it is still not clear what will happen to these two French tourists in the end. Will they get caught in the law? Or will the court release them in special consideration? Maybe the matter will be clear when the trial is over.
