Tentulia Jame Masjid, a unique example of 18th century Muslim architecture, is located in Tentulia village, 3 km from Tala upazila headquarters of Satkhira district. The mosque is also known locally as Miyar Masjid or Tentulia Jame Masjid. However, the original name of the mosque is Tentulia Khan Bahadur Kazi Salamatullah Jame Masjid. From the inscription found on the mosque, it is known that Zamindar Salamatullah Khan built this mosque in 1270 Bengal, imitating the design of the 'Sindur Patti' mosque in Kolkata.
There are 7 doors 9 feet high and 4 feet wide to enter the mosque. Built on 12 pillars with lime surki and the mosque at Gathuni in Chittagong has 6 domes and 20 towering minarets on its roof. More than 500 Muslims can pray together inside and outside Tentulia Jame Masjid. There is another historic mosque called Tentulia Shahi Mosque just 100 yards away from the historic Tentulia Jame Mosque, which is about 150 years old. Since 1987, the Directorate of Archeology of Bangladesh has taken over the maintenance of the Tentulia Jame Masjid.
