That wonderful city is La Rinconada in Peru. Kenona city is located at an altitude of about 5,100 meters above the plain. And so the inhabitants of this city are called as the highest living in the world.

Kenona city is located at an altitude of about 5,100 meters above the plain. And so the inhabitants of this city are called as the highest living in the world.
But one surprising thing is that about 50 thousand people live in the city. What's more interesting is that the people here stick to one job all day long. And that is the search for gold!
This city was built at the very end of the part of the great Andes mountains that falls into the territory of Peru. Although it is a city in name only. You will not get any facilities of the city here. They have to pass a very rough and tough life. Due to its high altitude, there is less oxygen and it is very cold.
But in the beginning, the situation here was not like that at all. Few families lived in this area. Later, when gold started to be found here, people from different places started coming here in search of gold. But even though it's cold outside, it's hot inside the gold mine. That is why the people of this city have to live in both hot and cold environments.
Also those who work here as labourers, are employed on a strange contract basis. Interestingly, the company does not have to pay any salary to the workers.
Workers are given freedom for one day in a month. In other words, they get all the gold they can recover from the mine one day as a salary!
