The Dhaka Times Desk A laborer died while walking 500 km to go home amid lockdown in India. The worker's name is Logesh Balasubramaniam.
According to an NDTV report, a 23-year-old laborer named Logesh Balasubramaniam walked from Nagpur, India to his home in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. He could only reach Secunderabad after a long walk. It was not possible for him to reach home. He died in an asylum camp on the way.
Satya, another worker, was on the way to return home with Logesh. He told the media that we have been walking together for the last 3 days. I didn't get any transport anywhere on the road. Some people came forward and handed over food. Some trucks overtook us. The truck drivers are again facing police harassment.
It is learned that a group of 10 people, including Satya and deceased Logesh, started walking from their workplace Nagpur to the village in Tamil Nadu on Monday. This tragic death happened on Wednesday night.
After the lockdown, thousands of workers in India are on their way back to their villages. The laborers were forced to walk long distances home due to unemployment and homelessness. Then such a tragic incident happened.
It should be noted that the number of corona infected in India has increased to 2000 so far. At least 53 people died.
