The Dhaka Times Desk The number of internet subscribers in Bangladesh has crossed 10 crores. This information has been informed by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
BTRC said that till March this year, the number of internet subscribers in the country has increased to 10 crore 32 lakh 53 thousand. Also, the total number of subscribers of 4 mobile phone operators in the country has exceeded 165 million.
Among the total internet users, mobile internet users are 9 crore 51 lakh 68 thousand. Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) on the other hand have 80 lakh 84 thousand internet subscribers. Which by the end of February was 57 lakh 43 thousand.
According to BTRC's calculations, the number of mobile subscribers reached 16 crore 53 lakh 37 thousand at the end of March. Among them Grameenphone customers are 7 crore 53 lakh 33 thousand, Robi's customers are 4 crore 97 lakh 18 thousand, Banglalink 3 crore 53 lakh 73 thousand and Teletalk customers are 49 lakh 13 thousand.
Last February the total number of mobile subscribers was 16 crore 61 lakh 14 thousand. Grameenphone subscribers were 7 crore 58 lakh 60 thousand, Robi's subscribers were 4 crore 96 lakh 11 thousand, Banglalink's subscribers were 3 crore 57 lakh 70 thousand and Teletalk's subscribers were 48 lakh 73 thousand.
It should be noted that anyone in the country who uses the Internet once in 90 days is considered as a customer.
