Alaire Romero, a 20-year-old mechanic, worked at a motor garage. He recently lost his job due to Corona. The young man now goes to the slaughterhouse at least twice a week to collect blood.
At the San Cristobal slaughterhouse, 30 to 40 people come to draw cattle blood every day. But before the corona epidemic, these bloods were thrown away.
An ingredient in the traditional Venezuelan 'pichon' soup is this cow's blood. According to media reports, the trend of eating this soup is also increasing in the neighboring country of Colombia due to the crisis caused by Corona.
