On May 21 at Madhavpur of Habiganj, the papaya tree of Bangaon Jame Masjid of Shahjahanpur Upazila was auctioned in the presence of worshipers. It is known that Abdus Sattar of Bangaon first bought papaya for 3 thousand taka and donated it to the mosque. Later, Ashraf Mia bought the papaya for 10,000 taka and donated it to the mosque again.
Then UP member Amir bought papaya for 8000 taka, Shahid Mia for 70000 taka and donated it again to the mosque. Gradually everyone bought the papaya at the auction and donated it to the mosque again. At one point, the price of this papaya stood at 1 lakh 62 thousand taka!
The next day at Iftar, the papaya was sold again for 7 thousand taka. Finally, the selling price of papaya stands at 1 lakh 69 thousand taka. Ashraf Miah of Bangaon village said that the entire money from the sale of papaya will be used for the development of Bangaon Jame Masjid.
