The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended against the final use of other antiviral drugs, including remdesivir, which is widely discussed in the treatment of the disease caused by the deadly corona virus, Covid-19. Along with this, the latest (Wednesday) corona guidelines of the United Nations health agency have also advised not to use plasma therapy as an alternative treatment outside of clinical trials.
The World Health Organization's advice not to use Remdesivir comes at a time when several pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh have already started manufacturing the drug. Due to the success of a trial at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, plasma therapy has also gained popularity in various hospitals.
The World Health Organization has not approved the use of any type of antiviral drug to treat the novel coronavirus. According to the Corona guidelines published by the organization last Wednesday, no changes have been made in their previous guidelines. The guidelines are developed in coordination with previous and other internationally standardized guidelines.
Regarding remdesivir and other antiviral drugs, the WHO says that existing guidelines are based on a few clinical trials and observations. None of these drugs have been proven to have high positive results in the treatment of Corona. Even complex side effects of these drugs have been found.
Earlier, the UN health agency also warned against the use of antimalarial drugs hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine in the treatment of Covid-19. In most cases, the disease begins with mild symptoms in 40 percent of people and moderate symptoms in 40 percent, the agency said.

It should be noted that the first appearance of the deadly corona virus was detected in Wuhan, China on December 31 last year. Then this virus spread to more than two hundred countries of the world and took the lives of more than 3 lakh 64 thousand people and infected more than 59 lakh 71 thousand people.
But scientists have warned that it could take 12 to 18 months to get the final vaccine for the novel coronavirus. Even the World Health Organization has warned that there may never be a vaccine for Covid-19.
