The Dhaka Times Desk Uber launched the parcel delivery service 'Uber Connect' from last Tuesday for the convenience of customers during the outbreak of the Corona virus.
According to a press release in this regard, all parcels on Uber Connect will be transportable on two-wheelers which must not exceed 5 kg in weight and the cargo will be sealed. No prohibited goods such as alcohol, narcotic drugs and dangerous or illegal items can be shipped in it. This delivery service will only be used for parcel transportation, not for passenger transportation.
Through this service, Dhaka residents can send and receive various items to their loved ones living inside Dhaka from the safety of their homes.
Similar to ridesharing trips, customers can also monitor the progress of the trip from parcel pickup to product transit and delivery. Customers can also share the delivery status of the parcel with the recipient.
In this regard, Uber Head of Bangladesh and East India Ratul Ghosh said, 'Uber Connect is an excellent example of how we have updated our platform as needed to meet the needs of customers while maintaining social distancing during this crisis. We also see this as part of our ongoing efforts to provide new earning opportunities for our drivers.'
