The Dhaka Times Desk June 20 was World Refugee Day. Mahbubul A Khalid sympathized with the refugees in his 3 songs.

The day is observed every year by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to protect the rights of refugees.

According to UNHCR, around 80 million people are currently displaced around the world. Out of this, 1 crore people were displaced in 2019. Like other countries of the world, refugees have taken refuge in Bangladesh. Millions of Rohingya refugees are staying in Bangladesh after being forcibly deported from Myanmar.

Mahbubul A Khalid is a humanitarian poet, lyricist and composer who is distressed by the plight of refugees around the world. He wrote 3 songs expressing sympathy for refugees. They are titled 'Rohingya People', 'Refugees' and 'Save the Palestine'. In these songs of his, the world conscience has been called to protect the rights of refugees.

All these songs have been composed by late popular composer Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul. Dinat Jahan Munni, Rajiv, Samran, Elita Karim, Rumana Akhtar and Ritu Hasnat sang the song 'Rohingya People' in ensemble voice.

On the other hand, the song titled 'Udvastu' is sung by Luipa, Tina Mostari and Mehdi Hasan. The song 'Save the Palestine' is sung by two talented artists of this generation, Konal and Kishore Das.
