Peter Li, spokesperson for Humane Society International, an organization working on animal rights in China, told the media that Yulin City should stop this festival not only for the sake of animals, but also for the health and safety of people. The reason is that the crowding of local markets and restaurants to buy dogs and dog meat seems very dangerous for public health in the current situation. That's why it needs to be stopped quickly.
