This historic Laldighi 9-dome mosque is located in Laldighi area of Gopinathpur union, about 10 km west of Badarganj upazila town of Rangpur.
According to its history, this mosque was discovered during the British rule during the Indian subcontinent. Later the local residents cleaned the mosque and made it usable. As there is no inscription on the mosque, there is no definite information about the construction period of Laldighi Mosque. But according to archaeologists, this mosque was built during the British rule. Many people think that the Laldighi Mosque was built in 1212 due to its similarity with the architecture style of the late Mughal era. There is a tradition among the local people that this mosque and the mosque pond were dug in one night.
The square-shaped Laldighi 9-domed mosque has 9 domes built on a one-meter-high altar. The domes have lotus capitals on top and marlon ornamentation below the domes. Octagonal cupola minarets are noted at the four corners of the mosque. However, the north-east corner minaret is four tiered and this minaret is used for calling Azan. Apart from the western side, the mosque also has a total of 9 entrances, 3 each on the other 3 sides. On the other hand, 3 beautiful mehrabs add to the beauty of this mosque on the western wall.
