The Dhaka Times Desk Even if there was no data, Facebook Messenger could be used. But from now on, you can no longer use free Facebook.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has banned the use of Facebook and other social media in the case of free internet packages. BTRC sent a letter in this regard to the internet providers last Tuesday and ordered it to be effective from Wednesday.
The letter, signed by Deputy Director of BTRC Sabina Islam, issued in the context of a letter from the Ministry of Information, said that recently it has been observed that telecommunication service providers are competing in the market to provide social media-related services partially or in some cases completely free of cost to attract their customers. starting By taking these free social media-related services, some unscrupulous people are also conducting various types of unnecessary criminal activities on social media.
Regarding this, Grameenphone's Head of External Communication, Muhammad Hasan said, We are working to implement BTRC's instructions to stop free offers related to Facebook.
It should be noted that the operators have given free or low cost packages for the use of sites like Facebook, IMO, WhatsApp, Twitter, which are widely used social media in Bangladesh. After this direction of BTRC they no longer have that chance.
