The report shows that this year, the economy of developing countries in the Asian region will shrink by 0.7 percent. However, ADB expects the region's economy of 45 countries to expand by 6.8 percent in 2021.
The growth of this region was downward in the first 3 quarters of the year. ADB says the Asia Pacific region's economy is unlikely to return to positive momentum this year.
The report also said that in the middle of this year, the International Monetary Fund made a similar forecast. In South Asia, the economy of all countries except China is in a bad state.
Reports suggest that India's economy may contract by 9 percent. China's economy will expand by about 2 percent. Southeast Asian economies, on the other hand, will contract by about 4 percent.
The economy of tourism-dependent countries will also be in a worse state. However, this region will turn around again in 2021. Then China's economy will expand by 7.7 percent. And India's economy will expand by 8 percent.
