Breaking news: Govt cancels HSC and equivalent exams

The Dhaka Times Desk The government has announced the cancellation of this year's Higher Secondary (HSC) and equivalent examinations, which have been suspended due to the corona virus. The result of this exam will be given after evaluation on JSC and SSC exam.

Today (Wednesday) in a virtual press conference with journalists Dr. Education Minister. Deepu Moni made this announcement.

This time, Deputy Minister of Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department Mahabub Hossain, Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Department Md. Aminul Islam Khan, Chairman of the Board of Secondary and Higher Education Prof. Chairman of all education boards including Ziaul Haque.

Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni said, "We have decided to evaluate in a slightly different way instead of taking direct exams. Those who are HSC candidates, they have cleared two public exams- JSC and SSC exams. The evaluation decision is taken considering the results of those two. We will evaluate HSC based on the average of JSC and SSC exam results.

Meanwhile, since this announcement came, there has been a mixed reaction among the general public. Many say, this decision is not right at all. While such a decision is correct in the case of class or other exams, it is not correct at all in the case of HSC. Many feel that the examination should have been conducted by increasing the center and maintaining the distance. The reason is that the assessment of the previous two tests may not be correct for this test. So the matter should have been thought more and then a decision should have been taken. It is true that parents do not want to send students to school in Corona situation. However, in the case of HSC, the matter was completely different - this is what the parents think.
