And the five goats look like ordinary goats, but it would be really wrong to think that they are ordinary. Goats of this species are able to survive in very adverse environment. In search of food, this goat rides around 13,000 feet high mountains every day! This is no ordinary goat, this goat is called Mountain Goat.

This species of goat is mainly found in the mountainous areas of North America. However, mountain goats are also found in the mountainous Himalayas and rugged Afghanistan. The mountain goat is slightly larger in size than the goats roaming the streets of rural Bengal. A newborn mountain goat weighs about 3 kg!

Usually a mountain goat starts trying to climb a mountain within 4-5 hours of birth. The weight of goats of this species ranges from 45 kg to 140 kg. Mountain goats are covered with thick fur to survive in extreme weather conditions. Be it minus 40 degrees Celsius or 160 km per hour winds - these mountain goats can survive all the storms. They usually live 12 to 15 years. But most of them died in accidents.

A mountain goat is ready to breed when they reach 30 months of age. Their breeding season lasts from October to December. Male and female mountain goats split into separate groups after breeding.

A full-grown mountain goat can produce about 40 kg of wool per year. However, it is not possible to cultivate mountain goats because of the need for wool. The reason is that they do not accept pets under any circumstances. So it is not possible to use them commercially for wool supply.
