Last Tuesday, the IMF said in its forecast that India's GDP will contract by 10.3 percent this year. In this year, the per capita GDP of neighboring Bangladesh will be more than that of India. The IMF estimates that India's per capita GDP will stand at US$1877 in 2020. On the other hand, per capita GDP of Bangladesh will increase from 4 percent to 1888 dollars.
But the IMF also said that the Indian economy will turn around again next year. The financial growth rate could be 8.8 percent. India may even overtake China's potential GDP growth rate.
