The Dhaka Times Desk Durga Puja, a major religious festival of Sanatan Hindus, comes to an official end today (Monday) with the dedication of idols.
Yesterday (Sunday) was Mahanavami of Durga Puja, the big religious festival of Sanatan Hindus. Today (Monday) is Vijaya Dashami. The five-day long Durga Puja of Sanatan Dharma devotees will come to an official end today with the ablution of idols.
Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bengali Sanatan Hindu community, started on October 22 (Thursday) through the abode of Chandipath, Bodhan and Devi. Now the goddess has come to swing and will go to the yard.
Religious rituals have been shortened this year to avoid infection due to the Corona epidemic. This year's Durgo Festival has been termed only as 'Durga Puja' by the Bangladesh Puja Udjakar Parishad, avoiding festival-related matters and restricting it to Sattvic Puja.
According to the latest information provided by the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council, Durga Puja is being held in 30,200 23 Mandapams across the country this year. Last year the number of Durga Puja Mandap was 31 thousand 398. Compared to last year, this year 1 thousand 175 Mandapa Puja is less. On the other hand, the number of puja mandaps in Dhaka city this year is 233. Last year this number was 237. 740 pujas are being held in the entire Dhaka district.
Yesterday (Sunday) on behalf of Bangladesh Central Puja Celebration Parishad, today (Monday) congratulated all the people of the country on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami. Bangladesh Central Puja Celebrations Parishad thanked all political parties, government and law enforcement agencies for providing all-out cooperation to celebrate the Puja in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
