The Dhaka Times Desk Samsung Chairman Lee Kun Hee died yesterday (October 25) at the age of 78. In a statement, Samsung said his son and Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-young and family members were by his side at the time of his death.
The Samsung family will forever remember Lee Kun's contribution with gratitude. In addition to Samsung, Lee Kun Hee himself became a global figure, earning the title of South Korea's richest man.
Under Lee's leadership, Samsung became the world's second largest manufacturer of smartphones. At one point it became so large that Samsung accounted for a fifth of South Korea's gross domestic product. It remains to be seen where the organization will stand in his absence.

Lee Kun, the recently deceased Samsung chairman, was also under the influence of legal complications. In 1995, he was accused of paying bribes to the president of South Korea. Allegations of tax evasion and fraud were also raised in 2008. However, Li Kun was officially pardoned from the two crimes.
