The Dhaka Times Desk Uber has launched a 24/7 safety helpline number in Bangladesh to ensure maximum safety of passengers and continuously enhance the passenger travel experience.
The safety toolkit's SOS 999 button in the Uber app, which also connects users directly to law enforcement agencies in times of need, will now also include a safety helpline number.
In a notification, Uber said that through the new safety helpline number, passengers can also speak directly to a representative of Uber's safety team in case of urgent or minor issues during the journey, such as disagreements with the driver or passengers or vehicle problems. With just one tap, passengers can also connect with Uber's Safety Incident Response Team in Bengali or English, where trained representatives will provide round-the-clock service.
However, the Uber Safety Helpline number is not a substitute for the National Emergency Helpline 999. However, it is expected to play a role in providing emergency services to passengers and drivers at the time of need.
In this regard, Pavan Vise, Head of Supply and Driver Operations, India and South Asia, Uber said, 'Our new round-the-clock safety helpline number will help passengers connect with the safety team at any time, day or night. That's why using Uber from now on will be a safer and more comfortable ride. This helpline number has been introduced primarily based on user feedback and we feel this security addition reaffirms our commitment to keeping Uber users safe.'
