Bridges have been built but there is no connecting road. The bridge is of no use as the soil on both sides of the bridge is not filled. Due to this, thousands of people of Ramchandrapur Bishnupur village of Chakmirpur union of Daulatpur upazila of Manikganj district have suffered greatly.
It is known that a bridge was constructed at a cost of Tk 32 lakh 52 thousand 653 near the house of Khalek Master of Chakmirpur Union of Upazila under the Directorate of Disaster Management. Since the construction of the bridge till date, the bridge has become useless due to the lack of soil at the base of the bridge, while there are also allegations that the contractor has withdrawn the money from the project without completing the work.
According to a published news, a bridge has been built on the canal at a cost of 32 lakh 52 thousand 653 taka near the house of Ramchandrapur Bishnupur Khalek Master of Chakmirpur Union of Upazila. However, that bridge has become a cut in people's throats. Since the villagers are not able to use the bridge, they blamed the negligence of the concerned authorities.
Even in the last few years, the contractor has not completed the soil filling work of the connecting road of the bridge due to mysterious reasons, water is accumulating around the bridge. The movement of school-college students is being disrupted as this water is frozen. During floods, the communication system becomes more fragile, thousands of villagers have to cross by boat or wet even if there are bridges. In public interest, the villagers demanded that the earthwork of the connecting road on both sides of the bridge be filled on an urgent basis.
Upazila project implementation officer Mominul Islam told a news media, I was not working in this upazila when the bridge was constructed, so I cannot tell the details. However, if the new allocation comes soon, arrangements will be made to fill both sides of the bridge with earth.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Anwar Hossain said, I was not aware of the fact that there is a bridge but there is no ground for the connection. As soon as possible I will solve this problem with the upazila project implementation officer.
