The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Agency (BTRC) has started the process of verifying the quality of mobile phone services. Currently, this program will be conducted for 6 months in 300 upazilas of the country.
Chairman of the organization Shyam Sundar Sikdar recently inaugurated this program at the office of BTRC. In the event, BTRC Chairman gave instructions to ensure quality service to the customers through modern technology and coordinated efforts and not to compromise on the interests of the customers.
The government has also announced 'Quality of Service Policy' for mobile phone operators in the country. Accordingly, call success rate should be 97 percent or higher, call drop should be less than 2 percent and call connection time should be 7 seconds maximum.
The policy announced by the government regarding internet services states that the speed of 3G internet should be at least 2 Mbps and 4G should be at least 7 Mbps. BTRC will check with modern technology whether this standard is being protected or not. This test program will continue in 300 upazilas of the country for the next 6 months. If the service means any deviation is found in the test, it will be reported to the concerned operator. How much the service quality of any operator has improved will be verified later.
