Friday prayer and its significance

The Dhaka Times Desk The best day of the week is Friday. It is considered as one of the most significant days in the world. Know today about the Friday prayer and its importance.

A distinct Surah has also been revealed in the Holy Qur'an called Juma. The great Rabbul Alamin said, 'Then when the prayer is over, spread out in the world and seek the favor of Allah and remember Allah more; So that you will be successful.' (Surah: Jumu'ah, verse: 10).

Friday prayer is considered as one of the most important prayers in Islam. The word Jumu'ah (جُمُعَة) is Arabic. It means to unite, join together, line up.

Since, on a certain day of the week, on Friday, adult believers-Muslims gather at the same place at a certain time and perform this Friday prayer instead of the Zuhr prayer of that day with the congregation, that is why this prayer is called 'Friday prayer'.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu Anhu, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, 'The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On this day Adam was created, on this day he was admitted to Paradise and on this day he was expelled from Paradise.' (Sahih Muslim: 1410).

Importance of Friday

It is known in various Islamic books and sources that the importance of Friday is many times greater. Allah Ta'ala gave the fullness of the creation of the world on this day. It was on this day that Hazrat Adam (a.s.) and Hawa (a.s.) were brought together in Paradise and on this day the Muslim Ummah gathers in the mosque for weekly Eid and worship, so the day is called Yaomul Juma'a or Friday.

Friday prayer was made obligatory in the first Hijri. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) reached Madinah on Friday after his stay in Quba during Hijrah and when he reached the valley of Bani Salem tribe, when it was time for Zuhr, he offered Friday prayers there. This is considered the first Friday prayer in history.

Virtues of Friday

In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) about the virtues of Friday, the Prophet (PBUH) said, 'Whoever enters the mosque first on Friday after performing the obligatory ablution, is as if he sacrificed a camel, and whoever enters the mosque the second time. As if he sacrificed a cow, the third time the person entered the mosque is as if he sacrificed a goat. Then the person who went to the mosque for the fourth time is as if he sacrificed a chicken. On the other hand, the person who enters the mosque for the fifth time is like sacrificing an egg. Then when the imam came out and sat on the pulpit for the sermon, the angels stopped writing and sat down to listen to the sermon. (Bukhari: 881, Ifa 837, Modern 830).

10 days of sins are forgiven

10 days of sins are forgiven for those who observe the rituals of Jumu'ah. In this regard, Rasulullah (s.a.w.s.) said, 'One who is thoroughly purified and then comes to the mosque, sits quietly listening to the khutbah with attention, then add 3 more days to the seven days between the two Fridays and a total of 10 days of sin will be forgiven. is On the other hand, a person who moves stones, pebbles or anything else during the sermon is as if he has done something in vain.' (Muslim: 857).

Atonement for sins between two Fridays

It is said that the Friday prayer is an expiation for the sins between the two Fridays. In this regard, Rasulullah (s.a.w.) said, 'Salat five times, Friday after Friday, one Ramadan after Ramadan as expiation for all sins, under this condition, the slave poets will save themselves from sin.' (Muslim; 233).

Prayers are accepted on Friday

The most significant aspect of the virtues of Jumu'ah is that there is a time on this day, when a believer makes a supplication, Allah Almighty accepts his supplication.

A hadith was narrated from Abu Huraira (RA). The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "There is a time on the day of Friday, when a believer asks Allah for something good, Allah will surely grant it to him." (Sahih Muslim: 852, Musnad Ahmad: 7151, As-Sunanul Kubra: 10234).

A hadith was narrated from Hazrat Anas (R.A.) that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) said, The desired time of Friday is from after Asr to before sunset. (Musnad Ibn Abi Shaiba: 5460, Tirmidhi: 489).

May Allah Ta'ala grant us all the grace to perform Friday prayers regularly - Allahumma Amin Chumma Amin.
