The Dhaka Times Desk After the very popular 'Mainkar Chipay', G5 has come up with their second Bengali original 'What the Fry'. Popular star of the country Vidya Sinha Mim played the role of 'Shama the firefly' in this romantic film.
Other characters include Pritam Haasan as Bashar, Shakib Bin Rashid as Johnny and Iresh Zaker as Shama's ex-boyfriend. Bangladesh's national award-winning film director Anam Biswas made his debut on the global OTT platform through this film.
In the beginning of the movie, Shama is seen standing on a bridge late at night and telling her fans live on social media that this is her last selfie, or last live video. But the fan followers are giving him only 'love' and 'hot' reactions without understanding anything. Just as he was about to jump from the bridge, a stranger came and stopped him. From then on begins a thrilling and funny story.
A girl meets a boy in a strange way, exciting dialogues, and full of subtle romance, What the Fry is a very charming movie. Where the director has beautifully portrayed the dual life of the stars and the simplicity of the common people. This short film is a wonderful representation of real life vs virtual life, candidly portraying the realities of our lives.
In this web film, Meem, Hasan and Rashid acted spontaneously in their respective roles. The film portrays Mim as a single superstar, crushed by the demands of the audience and the pressures of his own lifestyle and choices. Hasan playing the role of Basha is a very simple and indifferent young man. Rashid adds a unique dimension to Johnny's character by delivering a lot of dialogues like “Fight kiirya naiikare bachay neya ayam, don't give up so easily!”
