How exactly the technology will work, Xiaomi said in a blog post. The Mi Air Charge transmitter is quite large. It is so big that it can easily be placed as a side table next to the sofa in the living room. It can charge up to five watts wirelessly.
In this regard, Xiaomi said, such charges have nothing to do with QI quality. The smartphone will also feature a 'miniature antenna array with built-in beacon antenna' and a 'receiving antenna array'. The smartphone's 14 antennas will change the millimeter wave signal coming from the charging transmitter. This wave will be converted into electrical energy through a 'rectifier circuit'.
Currently, Xiaomi's technology is capable of charging multiple devices up to a few meters away. Xiaomi states that the impedance does not reduce the charging capacity, but it requires some caution.
Xiaomi also mentioned that 'Mi Air Charge' will work with smartwatches, fitness bands and other wearable technologies.
It is not yet known when the technology will arrive. GSM Arena has also expressed doubts about whether such technology will find a place in the consumer market. But whenever the technology arrives, its price is likely to be considerably higher.
