New record of 'cash' account opening

The Dhaka Times Desk Almost 180,000 new customers are now connecting to 'Cash' every day with no hassles of any paperwork just by pressing a few buttons on the mobile phone. which is setting a new record in account opening.

It is setting records for hassle-free account opening and is also a unique example of increasing financial inclusion using technology.

New customers are getting connected to 'Nagad' soon after the introduction of the digital financial service 'Nagad' of the Department of Posts to open accounts by dialing *167# and setting the PIN. Also, customers can open a 'cash' account whenever they want by verifying the national identity card through the app.

After simplifying the account opening process and launching several campaigns in recent times, customers have flocked to the 'Nagad' platform. The app downloads of 'Nagad' have increased so much that the 'Nagad' app is currently on the top chart in Bangladesh on the Google Play Store.

Recently 'Nagad' also made an agreement with all the mobile operators of the country to open an account by setting PIN by dialing *167#. Then there is the need to open a 'cash' account. As the mobile phone operators have the customer's national identity card, the account opening process is completed by verifying the customer's information from the national identity card database the moment the customer expresses his interest by dialing *167#. This technology invented by 'Nagad' has already responded in different countries of the world.

Once upon a time people had to go through a lot of trouble and spend money to open any mobile account. Also had to wait for days or even weeks. To break this deadlock, Postal Department's 'Nagad' introduced digital KYC for the first time in the country. Then the Government of Bangladesh introduced the 'Cash' account opening method in one minute through the Identity app. You can become a 'Cash' customer in an instant by dialing *167# and setting the PIN.

On February 17, 1 lakh 85 thousand customers were added to the platform of 'Nagad'. A few days before and after that, the number of customers increased at almost the same rate. Although the number is a little less during public holidays, 'Nagad' has received an average of one and a half lakh new customers every day in the last two weeks. That is why the active subscriber base of 'Nagad' has now crossed 3 crore which is a major step forward in increasing financial inclusion in the country. 'Cash' has already been awarded by several international organizations for increasing financial inclusion using technology.

Considering the number of customers, the market share of 'Nagad' is 30 percent at the moment, which the operator is working on with a plan to increase it to 50 percent within the current year.

Along with this, the government will also distribute 75 percent allowances of the Ministry of Social Welfare through 'cash'. Along with this, the government is distributing financial incentives to farmers affected by Corona through 'cash'.
