Yesterday (February 27) night, after the inter-ministerial meeting at the Secretariat, the Education Minister informed the reporters.
The inter-ministerial meeting started at 6:30 pm under the chairmanship of the education minister and continued till 8:30 pm to review the situation of corona virus infection.
Minister of Agriculture in the meeting chaired by the Minister of Education. Abdur Razzak, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education. Zakir Hossain attended the meeting. Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam, Senior Secretary of Public Security Department Mostafa Kamal Uddin, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department also participated in the meeting. The education minister said to the reporters, '60 working days syllabus for those who will give SSC in 2021 and 80 working days syllabus for HSC has been formulated. So to make them have 60 and 80 working days of class, I will try to bring them 6 days to class.
He had earlier said about the plan to conduct SSC and HSC exams within two months of the opening of schools and colleges - when attention was drawn to this, the Education Minister said, 'Then I said if it is possible to open now...whenever we open, we have 60 working days. If we open at the end of March, then we will conduct classes for them (SSC candidates) for 60 working days and give them two more weeks before the exam and then take the exam (SSC and equivalent).'
Dipu Moni said, 'If it opens at the end of March, then there are 60 working days and then the Eid holiday. There are also other holidays like weekends. All in all, the exam may be held in July. The calculation will be like that'.
The education minister said that classes will continue in schools and colleges during Ramadan. In response to a question from journalists, the Education Minister said that since one year the students were at home. Classes are about to start after so long. So this time we cannot give any holiday in Ramadan. Only Eid leave will be given.
It is to be noted that after the detection of the first corona virus patient in the country on March 8 last year, educational institutions have been closed since March 17. Then the ongoing vacation of the educational institutions was gradually extended till February 28.
