It has announced closure of shops, restaurants and schools from Monday. Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi made the announcement yesterday (Friday), warning of new infections of Covid-19. He said that on the occasion of Easter, a complete lockdown will start across the country from April 2 to 3.
He said that even a year ago, a nationwide lockdown was announced for the first time due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Italy. Again, efforts are underway to stop the rapid spread of the infection. More than 1 lakh people have lost their lives in the country due to this disease.
Recently in Italy, the new form of corona is causing extreme infections. Lombardy, the most populous region in the north of the country, and Calabria, in the south, are designated as 'redzones'. A red zone may also be declared in the Lazio region of the country.
Italy's new coalition government imposed strict restrictions on red zones earlier this month. Bars, restaurants, secondary and primary schools have been declared closed in the red zone area. Local authorities have also ordered residents to stay at home.
