The Dhaka Times Desk A top official in Saudi Arabia has threatened to kill a female UN investigator assigned to investigate the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The Saudi official threatened to kill Agnes Clamard, a special investigation officer assigned to investigate the brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul, Turkey in October 2018. The threat was issued to Khashoggi after he published an inquiry report into the assassination.
Agnes Clamard is a French human rights expert. He will join the post of Secretary General of the international human rights organization Amnesty International this month.
He told the British daily Guardian in an interview that in January 2020, a UN colleague warned him of death threats from Saudi Arabia. The UN official said that top Saudi officials had twice threatened to kill Clamard. The Saudi official said, "If the United Nations doesn't rein it in, they will look into it."
