A young man named Md Delwar Hossain (38) in Chotaharji village of the upazila saw a hilsa fish while fishing in the paddy field last Thursday night.
The incident created a sensation in the area. Md. Delwar Hossain son of Md. Chan Mia of Chotaharjee village. Delwar is a furniture dealer in the local Katakhali market.
Delwar Hossain said that every year in the month of Chaitra, when the paddy fields are submerged in the tide water of the full moon, different types of fish are found there.
On Thursday night, when the water came to the paddy field, he hunted the hilsa fish while fishing with tentacles. When the news of finding hilsa fish spread, people flocked to Delwar's house to see the fish.
Chotaharji village teacher Ujjal Baral said that he saw the hilsa fish. The weight of the fish will be around 500 grams, he said.
