Public transport was closed from last April 5. Today (April 7) public transport has resumed with increased fares and half the number of passengers from 6 am to 6 pm. Inter-district and long-distance transport is closed.
Before this, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) released the revised notification regarding the ban on public transport on Tuesday (April 6) night.
The notification signed by the director of the organization (engineer) Shithanshu Shekhar Biswas said that the ban on public transport in the city corporation area has been relaxed from 6 am to 6 pm from Wednesday until further orders.
Earlier yesterday (Tuesday), Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said in a press briefing that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reconsidered and approved the issue of public transport (subject to fulfillment of conditions) taking into account the suffering of public transportation in the lockdown situation.
He said that only Dhaka and Chittagong cities along with Gazipur, Narayanganj, Comilla, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh City Corporation will be able to ply public transport from 6 am to 6 pm leaving half the seats empty.
It is to be noted that on March 31, public transport was started with half the passengers at 60 percent additional fare. But the public transport was stopped due to the lockdown. However, due to the office-courts being half open, the government took this decision to start public transport as there was a problem for the employees to travel to the office.
Meanwhile, the country's corona situation is getting worse day by day. Yesterday (Tuesday) maximum 66 people died due to Corona. 7213 people have been infected in a single day. The health department itself is in dire straits as the hospitals have more patients than their capacity. The government ban must be obeyed to bring the corona situation back to normal. The situation can be normalized only if the ban is strictly followed.
Things to do to prevent Corona virus
# stay at home all the time.
# Follow the rules and use mask when going out for emergency.
# three-layer surgical mask can be washed if desired.
# wash clothes after coming home from outside. Or hang it without shaking for at least four hours.
# Wash hands thoroughly (for at least 20 seconds) with soap or liquid before coming outside.
# plastic PPE or eyes, face, head must be washed thoroughly with detergent and dried after one use.
# Wear PPE made of cloth or clean as described.
# Use a head cap that completely covers the hair.
# Those who have sneeze cough should follow all the rules promulgated by the government. Also, wash hands as directed before and after handling food items, keys, switches, mice, remote controls, mobiles, watches, computer desks, TVs, etc. and after using the bathroom. Those who have dry hands use Moisture after washing their hands. Soap or hand liquid can be used. Why can this virus remain in the crackle (cracked part) of dry hands? Avoid using highly alkaline soaps or detergents.
