The Dhaka Times Desk Seventy-one-year-old vocal warrior Indramohan Rajbanshi died today (Wednesday) at 10:20 am while undergoing treatment at the capital's Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) due to corona virus.
According to hospital sources, he was suffering from high blood pressure along with corona virus. After being admitted to the hospital on Monday, he was kept in the ICU.
It is known that before this, Indramohan Rajvanshi was under treatment in two hospitals of Mohakhali and Malibagh.
Indramohan Rajvanshi is a Bangladeshi folk singer and freedom fighter. He has recorded various songs like Bhavaiya, Bhatiali, Zari, Sari, Murshidi etc. in his own voice. He also worked as the head of folk music department in Sangeet College for a long time. Indramohan Rajvanshi is the founder of Bangladesh Lok Sangeet Parishad.
Apart from singing Indramohan Rajbanshi songs, he used to collect folk songs from different parts of the country. He has collected about lakhs of songs written by more than a thousand poets.
This talented vocalist Indramohan Rajvanshi received the Ekushey Padak in 2018 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music.
