The Dhaka Times Desk Popular dramatist, actor, producer Masum Aziz, who won Ekushey Medal, breathed his last at a private hospital in the capital on Monday (October 17) at 3:30 pm. He will be paid his last respects today at Shaheed Minar.
The President has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of this legendary actor. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Long-time colleagues expressed their condolences, wishing his soul rest in peace.
The body of Masum Aziz will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar at 11 am today, Tuesday (October 18). People from all walks of life will pay their last respects there. After paying respects, his body will be taken to his home district Pabna. He will be buried there.
Masum Aziz was suffering from cancer and heart disease for a long time. He is survived by his wife and two children. He fell ill on September 24 this year and was admitted to the hospital. After some improvement in the treatment, he was taken home again. Later, he fell ill again and was admitted to the hospital again on October 8.
It is to be noted that Masum Aziz made his acting career debut by working in theater while studying at Chittagong University. Then in 1985 he acted in his first TV drama. He has acted in numerous popular TV dramas including Humayun Ahmed's 'Ude Jaye Bakpakshi', Salauddin Lovelu's 'Tin Gada'. In 2022, actor Masum Aziz was awarded the Ekushey Padak.
