According to the news, 6 sheep were killed by the train engine in Parvatipur, Dinajpur. First one sheep was cut under the engine of the train and the other 5 sheep one by one jumped under the moving engine and died. They are also known to have babies in the wombs of two mother sheep.
The accident took place in front of the loco shed at Parvatipur railway junction area last Friday around 11 am.
After investigation, it is known that the sheep were reared in the house of Anwar Hossain, a person of Islampur Kalibari in Parvatipur city. However, he refused to comment on the matter.
Zakir Hossain, an eyewitness journalist, said, "First, a sheep suddenly fell under the engine and died on the railway line. Later, 5 sheep fell under the engine like self-sacrifice. I heard that where one sheep goes all the sheep go. It was actually witnessed in front of Parvatipur loco shed. Seeing one, 5 sheep of the herd sacrificed themselves by putting their heads under the railway engine. It's really a strange event!
Abdul Kafi, the loco in-charge, said that he could not understand why he left the animals in such an unsafe condition. The matter is being investigated.
Abdur Razzak, Parbatipur Upazila Animal Resources Officer, said that sheep are indeed united animals. They always roam together as a herd. That is why this incident happened today. They are very different from other animals. He said, if the owner of the sheep was a little careful, such a sad incident of being cut by the engine on the railway line would not have happened.
It should be noted that not only in this incident in Bangladesh, but also in other parts of the world, there have been incidents of many sheep sacrificing themselves together.
