The Dhaka Times Desk Until now, everyone thought that wireless charging could only be done on smartphones and tablets, but South Korean scientists broadened that idea. The world's first wireless charging electric bus was put on the road in South Korea!
Recently, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) company rolled out a pair of online electric vehicle (OLEV) motorcoaches on the roads of South Korea. The special feature of these coaches is that they are electric powered and do not need to be taken to the garage to recharge the electricity. Rather, they can charge their batteries remotely with wireless technology! A modern bus recharges its battery using electromagnetic technology from electric cables located on the side of the road through coils located under the deck of the bus!
Currently, this bus can go continuously for 24 kilometers (15 miles) on a single charge. If there is an electrical field of 5 to 15% for recharging this bus on the highway, it will continue to charge itself. Depending on the service of the buses put on the road experimentally, the concerned company has plans to put more buses of this type of technology on the road in the future.
KAIST Institute Director Dong Ho Cho said, “It is truly an unforgettable moment for everyone, as Online Electric Vehicle (OLEV) wirelessly charged buses hit the road and are being used for passenger transportation. Now is the time for OLEV to turn around and further develop this technology to put more buses on the road. Hopefully, these buses will be of great help to the transport system in transporting a large number of passengers.”
