It has been informed that rail travelers can buy 50 percent tickets from the counter and the remaining 50 percent online. Passenger trains have been suspended since July 23 due to the dire corona situation. After more than two weeks of shutdown, the news of the train running has once again brought relief to the passengers. Passengers can be seen queuing for tickets at Kamalapur and Airport railway stations in the capital since dawn. This time, tickets are being sold not for half seats, but for full seats.
According to railway sources, Bangladesh Railway will operate 38 pairs of intercity trains and 20 pairs of mail express and commuter trains from next Wednesday (August 11).
In this regard, Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Masud Sarwar told the media that train tickets are being sold 50 percent from the counter and 50 percent online. Tickets are being sold at the counter following hygiene rules.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Railway has also given some instructions for the passengers to prevent corona infection. Among which - you can buy advance tickets 5 days before the journey at the previous fare. Tickets purchased online are non-refundable. Commuter train tickets will be issued from designated box counters as usual.
However, due to the current corona situation, the sale of tickets without seats will be stopped. No passenger without a ticket will be allowed to enter the station or travel on the train. All passengers must enter the station following hygiene rules. Also, no passenger will be allowed to travel in the train.
It is to be noted that considering the infection and death due to corona virus in the country, the lockdown has been extended from July 1 to August 10 tomorrow. Due to Eid, the train was opened for only a few days with half the seats. Everything has been relaxed since August 11. Public and private offices and courts will remain open. All business establishments including hotels, restaurants, shopping malls will be open. Trains and buses will be able to travel with the number of seats (seating) at the previous normal fare. But health rules must be followed.
