Two lion cubs were recently found on the banks of a river in Russia's Far East by people searching for the remains of the extinct mammoth. One of those two lion cubs was nicknamed Sparta. Its fur is a bit tangled from being under the ice for so long, but everything else is intact. The cub's teeth, skin, soft tissue and other organs are mummified.
Although the cub died 28,000 years ago, its claws are said to still be sharp. Radiocarbon dating is the scientific method used to determine age.
