Without the Amazon forest, half of the world's plants, animals and microorganisms would be destroyed. The Amazon is home to 10 percent of the world's animals. There are 40 thousand species of plants, at least 3 thousand species of fish, 370 species of reptiles, 2.5 million species of insects in this Amazon.
Many experts say that 137 species of plants, animals and insects are disappearing from these forests every day. 50 thousand species of animals and plants are disappearing from these forests every year. And if the forest continues to be deforested, half of the world's species including 118 species of plants and animals will be lost.
This Amazonian nature also has the potential to make medicine for 90 percent of human ailments. Many medicines are made from plants in the Amazon. The modern medical world is largely dependent on the Amazon rainforest. Without this rainforest, it would not be possible to make many medicines that heal people. At least 121 medicines are now prepared from various plants of the Amazon forest. Medicines for heart disease, glaucoma, leukemia, malaria are made only with Amazonian plants. This rainforest is home to 80,000 plant species. From which so far only 1 percent has been tested and used to make medicine. Medicines for deadly diseases can be made from this forest. That opportunity will not exist if this forest is no more.
The destruction of the Amazon forest will also reduce rainfall in the region. Drought will occur on a much larger scale. Floods will also be high. The destruction of this vast habitat of the animal will have effects all over the world. Droughts and floods will also occur in many places. Rainfall has already decreased in places that get rain due to the Amazon, due to deforestation.
We know that trees and plants absorb carbon dioxide. Amazon has been absorbing this carbon dioxide for years. If the Amazon never existed, billions of tons of carbon dioxide would be released into the atmosphere. Destructive greenhouse gases in the atmosphere will increase from 5 to 6 times. Global warming will increase at lightning speed.
If rainfall decreases and drought increases, agriculture will be disrupted, people will not get water for consumption, food crisis will reach an extreme. If there is no rain, the crops will also be severely damaged. Famine may even occur.
There are currently 3,000 varieties of fruits available in this Amazon rainforest. 80 percent of the world's food is produced in this rainforest. These include avocados, oranges, grapes, bananas, pineapples, mangoes, coffee, coconuts, chocolate and tomatoes. Without Amazon, the food supply will decrease at an alarming rate.
According to the World Wildlife Fund, the Amazon absorbs at least 10 billion metric tons of carbon. If these forests are burned or destroyed, no one will be able to save the Earth's atmosphere from carbon dioxide. Even if carbon dioxide is present in the atmosphere, oxygen will not be produced. If this rainforest burns to ashes, the global temperature will increase by 3 degrees Celsius. There will be drought in excess. The extent of wildfires will increase due to the dry season.
Basically this forest is home to 30 million people of the world. Out of which 27 lakh are tribals. 350 groups depend on this Amazon forest for their livelihood. Those who live in the city also depend on this forest for food and medicine. Without forests, millions of people will become refugees in search of shelter.
If this forest is destroyed, people will lose 20 percent of fresh water. The Amazon River is one of the world's freshest water sources. Every second, 175 thousand cubic meters of fresh water falls from the Amazon River into the Atlantic Ocean. This water is essential for plants, animals, minerals and fungi. If it does not rain, this source of fresh water will never exist again.
If this Amazon forest is destroyed, 70 percent of the 3,000 cancer-fighting plants will be lost. These rainforests are home to deadly cancer-fighting plants. It is one of the antidotes to periwinkle cancer. This medicine is made from the vincristine plant of this rainforest, which is very effective in preventing cancer. This plant wouldn't even exist if the Amazon forest didn't exist anymore. So if the Amazon forest is destroyed then a terrible disaster will befall the entire mankind, which can never be desired by anyone.
