Farooqui's 'No Land's Man' nominated for 'Kim Ji Suk Award'

The Dhaka Times Desk 7 films by seven South Asian filmmakers have been nominated for the 'Kim Ji Suk Award' at the 26th Busan International Film Festival. Which includes Farooqui's 'No Land's Man'.

The 26th edition of the Busan International Film Festival will start from October 6 next month. 7 films by 7 filmmakers from South Asia have been nominated for the 'Kim Ji Suk Award' at this festival. Among them is Mustafa Saryar Faruqi's first international film No Land's Man.

Yesterday (Monday) the festival authority announced the names of 7 films nominated for 'Kim Ji Suk Award'. Apart from Farooqui's 'No Land's Man', the famous Philippine director Brillante Mendoza, Japanese director Naomi Ogigami and India's Aparna Sen's 'The Rapist' will compete for this award.

After the death of former Busan Film Festival director Kim Ji Suk in 2017, the festival authorities started giving this award in his name. This award is given for the fourth time. The winning film will be awarded a prize of USD 10,000.

The makers released the first look of 'No Land's Man' protagonist Nawazuddin Siddiqui on the day of his nomination for 'Kim Ji Suk Award'. After its release, there has been a huge response on social media.
