Organization of Islamic Cooperation or OIC criticized the Indian government in this regard and expected responsible behavior.
The international Islamic organization OIC has termed the police operation as systematic oppression and violence during the eviction of hundreds of Muslim families from government land in the Darang district of India's northeastern state of Assam. This was said in a statement on social media.
According to a Perstud report, the OIC also called the media coverage of the incident "shameful" in a statement on social media. Along with this, this international organization of 57 Muslim countries has appealed to the Indian government to act responsibly in these matters.
The OIC statement called on the Indian government to provide security to the Muslim minority and respect all their religious and social fundamental rights. The statement also stated that the best way to resolve any issue within national sovereignty is through mutual negotiations.
It is to be noted that on September 23, the police in Dholpur village of Darang district of Assam, India, carried out a brutal operation in the name of evicting the alleged illegal occupants. At least 2 minority Muslims were killed in police firing. Apart from this, many injured and hundreds of people have become refugees. The administration claims that 8 policemen were also injured in the attack by the locals. This state government of India has ordered an investigation into the matter.
