'Revolutionary bonds' to oust junta government in Myanmar

The Dhaka Times Desk Protests have been going on in the Southeast Asian country of Myanmar since February this year after the military junta seized power by ousting Myanmar's pro-democracy party. 'Revolutionary Bond' has been released to remove the junta government in Myanmar.

A number of pro-democracy and separatist groups are working together to oust the military regime from the seat of power. They have already formed a shadow government called the National Unity Government (NUG).

ওই সরকারটি তাদের ‘বিপ্লব’কে এগিয়ে নিতে বরাবরই জনগণের আর্থিক অনুদানের উপরই নির্ভর করে আসছে। এবার আর্থিক সহায়তার পরিসর আরও বাড়াতে বন্ড ছাড়া হয় সরকারটির পক্ষ হতে। সরকারের পক্ষ হতে বলা হয়েছে যে, ছাড়ার প্রথম ৩ ঘণ্টাতেই ৩ মিলিয়ন ডলারের বন্ড বিক্রি হয়েছে। দিনের শেষে তা দাঁড়িয়েছে ৬.৩ মিলিয়ন। বাংলাদেশী মুদ্রায় এই অর্থের পরিমাণ ৫৪ কোটি ৩৪ লাখ টাকা। এই সরকারের লক্ষ্য- ১ বিলিয়ন ডলারের বন্ড বিক্রি করা।

এনইউজি’র পক্ষ থেকে বলা হয়, ১০০ ডলার, ৫০০, ১০০০ ও ৫০০০ ডলার মূল্যের দুই বছর মেয়াদী এসব বন্ড প্রধানত বিদেশে অবস্থানকারী মিয়ানমারের নাগরিকদের কাছে বিক্রি করা হবে। এই বন্ডগুলো হতে কোনো মুনাফা না পাওয়া গেলেও দেশটির নাগরিকরা তা কিনছেন।

এই বিষয়ে এনইউজি’র মুখপাত্র ড. সাসা এক ফেসবুক পোস্টে বলেছেন, “এর মাধ্যমে, ফ্যাসিস্ট মিলিটারি শাসনের ভিতকে উপড়ে ফেলতে মানুষের প্রচণ্ড উৎসাহ দেখছি আমি।”

অপরদিকে জান্তা সরকারের ভাষ্য অনুযায়ী, ন্যাশনাল ইউনিটি গভর্নমেন্ট (এনইউজি) নামে এই ছায়া সরকার একটি ‘সন্ত্রাসী’ আন্দোলন পরিচালনা করছে। তবে বন্ডের বিষয়ে জান্তা সরকারের কারও বক্তব্য পায়নি বার্তা সংস্থা রয়টার্স।

২৭ বছর বয়সী একজন মিয়ানমার নাগরিক এই বন্ডের পেছনে ৫০০ ডলার বিনিয়োগ করেছেন। নাম না প্রকাশের শর্তে রয়টার্সকে তিনি বলেছেন যে, “দুই বছর পর এই বন্ডের টাকা ফেরত পাওয়ার আশা আমরা করি না। আমরা এটা কিনছি, কারণ হলো আমরাও এই বিপ্লবে অবদান রাখতে চাই।”
