Actress Nipun Akhter, who lost her candidature for the post of general secretary, was declared general secretary today (Saturday) after various incidents.
After the meeting of the appeal board formed to conduct this election, the board's chief filmmaker Sohanur Rahman Sohan made this announcement.
At this time, he said, "Since Zayed's candidature was cancelled, Nipun, his closest candidate for the post of general secretary, was declared the winner without any contest."
He said that the candidature of Chunnu, who was elected as a member of the executive council, was also canceled on the same complaint. Nipun appeared before the appeal board today (Saturday). But Zayed Khan did not appear.
On January 28, the election of artists association was held. Zayed Khan won the post of general secretary in that election. It was his third consecutive win. However, his rival candidate Naika Nipun complained that Zayed had committed corruption in the election. He bought votes with money.
Nipun also held a press conference on these allegations. Submit a written complaint to the Election Appeal Board. Then the social welfare ministry gave the responsibility to the board to deal with the matter.
That is why the appeal board called a meeting on Saturday afternoon. Nipun was present but Zayed was absent. In his absence, Sohanur Rahman Sohan announced that Zayed Khan will no longer be the general secretary of Shilpi Samiti. His candidature was canceled due to allegations of election irregularities. Instead another candidate won in a deft unopposed contest.
It should be noted that the number of voters in this election of artists association was 428 people. Out of which 365 people voted. The new leadership has come to this organization with their votes. Elias Kanchan won the post of president by getting 191 votes in the election. His rival Misha Saudagar got 148 votes. Zayed Khan who won the general secretary post got 176 votes. Her rival heroine Nipun got 163 votes.
