That is why Douglas's name appeared in the Guinness World Records. Guinness says on its website that Douglas's home is in Hertfordshire in the south of the United Kingdom. He is an IT manager by profession. He also grows fruits and vegetables in the greenhouse behind the house. It was there that Douglas set a world record by growing 1,269 cherry tomatoes on a branch. He collected these tomatoes from the trees in September last year.
The previous world record was also held by Douglas. He got the official recognition of that record a few weeks ago. At that time, he caught 839 tomatoes on a tree branch to eat.
In 2020, Douglas also held the record for the UK's largest tomato grower. A large tomato grown in his greenhouse weighed 3.106 kg! However, he did not set a world record for that. Dan Southland of the United States holds the record for the world's largest tomato grower. The world's largest tomato grown in Southland that year weighed 4.896 kg.
Guinness has recognized Douglas as an independent horticulturist. Due to his job, he cannot spend time eating his fruits and vegetables regularly every day. He spends a little over 4 hours a week here. Douglas also liked to experiment with fruits and vegetables.
