Bangladesh Railway will sell advance tickets for Eid trip till May 1 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on May 2. And ticket sales will start on April 23. Advance ticket sales for the return journey will begin on May 1.
A meeting was held yesterday (Monday) at the railway building to decide on the advance sale of tickets for the Eid trip. Sources of the meeting said that these dates for the sale of advance tickets have been fixed there. However, it was also decided in the meeting that Railway Minister Nurul Islam will hold a press conference next Wednesday to give details on these issues. For that reason, the railway officials did not agree to talk about the date of ticket sale.
According to the sources of the meeting, tickets for the April 27 journey will be sold on April 23. Tickets for the journey will go on sale on April 24 and April 28. Tickets for April 29 will be available on April 25. Tickets for the April 30 journey will be sold on April 26. Tickets for May 1 journey will be sold on the last day i.e. April 27. On the other hand, the return journey for Eid will start on May 5. Advance ticket sales for the return journey will begin on May 1.
Shariful Alam, senior information officer of the Ministry of Railways, told the media that a meeting was held today under the leadership of the Minister of Railways regarding the sale of advance tickets on Eid. The minister will announce the decision of the meeting on Wednesday.
Railway sources say that tickets for intercity trains are usually sold five days in advance. In this case, the decision to sell tickets in advance 5 days before this Eid is not a new thing. However, how many new coaches will be added on Eid, how many passengers can be transported, whether a special train will be launched on the occasion of Eid or not, these issues are important. Apart from this, there is also a discussion about whether the customers can buy tickets easily or not.
However, several railway officials who participated in the meeting said without revealing their names, there is no possibility of any additional surprises this Eid.
In 2020, restrictions on train travel were imposed after the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. Due to corona, the travel of people towards home during Eid is also reduced. This time the corona infection situation is normal. Concerned people are thinking that this time the flow of people towards home may increase.
According to railway sources, it has also been decided to start 6 pairs of special trains this Eid. Normally 6-8 pairs of special trains are run every Eid. This time, the target of selling about 30,000 tickets per day from the Kamalapur station of Dhaka has been set. Half of these tickets will be sold online and the remaining half will be sold at station counters, railway sources said.
