The Dhaka Times Desk After the exhibition in different countries of the world, a unique film 'Shimu' or 'Made in Bangladesh' about the struggle and success story of the determined women garment workers of Bangladesh was released in Japan.

Production company Khana Talkies said this through a press release. It is reported that 'Shimu' will be screened in at least 15 cinemas from Hokkaido to Okinawa including Tokyo. Pandora is releasing the film in Japan.
The director of the film Rubaiyat Hossain answered various questions of the audience by participating virtually in the opening show.
Along with Rubaiyat Hossain, most of the main actors of the film were women. Cinematography was done by Sabine Lanchelin, sound recording by Elisha Albert and art direction by Jonaki Bhattacharya. Similarly, the role of women in the release of the film in Japan is worth mentioning. Japanese distributor Pandora is headed by a woman, as well as the Japanese subtitles for the film by a group of female students at Osaka Woman's University.
After its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, the film was screened at the 63rd BFI London Film Festival. The film has also been recognized and awarded at various international film festivals. Rikita Nandini Shimu won the best actress award at the Saint-Jean-de-Luz film festival in France. It also won the Interfedi Award at the Torino or Turin Film Festival in Italy and a total of 3 awards including the Best Audience Award and the Jury Award at the Amiens International Film Festival in France.

In December 2019, this film was commercially released as 'Made in Bangladesh' in various cinemas in France, Denmark, Canada and Portugal. Then in 2020, the film was shown commercially in cinemas in Mexico, China, Singapore, Australia, Turkey and Germany after showing in various cinemas in America. The film was released in Bangladesh on March 11.
Rikita Nandini Shimu, Navera Rahman, Parveen Paru, Dipanbita Martin, Mayabi Maya, Mostafa Manowar, Jayraj, Shatabdi Wadud, Momena Chowdhury, Wahida Mallick Jolly and Samina Lutfa have acted in various roles in this film. Mita Chowdhury and India's Shahana Goswami play two guest roles.
