He died at Dhaka's United Hospital at 12:56 on Friday night. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this news in a message quoting his younger brother Foreign Minister AKA Momen.
Abul Mal Abdul Muhit was suffering from various physical complications after contracting the corona virus last year. He was admitted to the hospital in the first week of March due to physical weakness. After the situation improved, he went back to his own district, Sylhet.
President Mohammad Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep grief over his death. Deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
According to a message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, two rounds of prayers will be held at the Gulshan Azad Mosque on Saturday at 10:30 am and at 11:30 am at the Parliament's South Plaza.
After that, his coffin will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar at 2 pm for people from all walks of life to pay their respects. He will be buried tomorrow at the family graveyard in Janmabhoomi Sylhet.
