A group of researchers from the University of Utah in America claimed that the problem of obesity can significantly reduce the number of sperm in men. Especially: This problem increases after 40 years. This problem is more prevalent in people over 60 years of age. Researchers have also claimed that the sperm count is at its peak from the age of 17 to 40 years.
In this study, scientists examined about 40,000 sperm cells. Testing RNA, the genetic material from sperm cells, shows how well those cells are actually capable of producing sperm. Research results show that those with a 'body mass index' or 'BMI' of 30 or more have impaired sperm production. Scientists fear that obesity may reduce the secretion of the sex hormone testosterone.
