The Dhaka Times Desk Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the dream Padma Bridge. He said, Padma Bridge is a symbol of Bangladesh's ability and dignity.
Sheikh Hasina said, Padma Bridge is not just a bridge, it is our capability, our passion. It is the image of Bangladesh. I am proud of Padma Setu.
At the beginning of the speech, the Prime Minister said, we remember the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mubibur Rahman, under whose leadership we got this Bangladesh with deep respect. I pay respect to the three national leaders. Tributes to those killed by the assassin's bullet on August 15, 1975.
Expressing gratitude to all those involved in the construction of Padma Bridge, the Prime Minister said that we had to face many conspiracies during the construction of this bridge. My son Joy, daughter Putul, Sheikh Rehana, Redwan Mujib, former Minister of Communications Abul Hossain and others have to bear a lot of pain.
At this time, Sheikh Hasina expressed her gratitude to the countrymen and all concerned, who have donated land for this Padma Bridge. I thank them for this sacrifice. After 11 years, about 5 thousand people worked non-stop to build the bridge for the people, the Prime Minister also thanked them.
After the inaugural address, the Prime Minister unveiled a mural and a memorial plaque of Bangabandhu in Mawa area.
The inauguration ceremony of Padma Bridge started with the performance of the theme song of Padma Bridge at 10:05 am. Earlier, Sheikh Hasina and her entourage reached the Mawa end of the Padma by helicopter to inaugurate the bridge.
The Prime Minister will cross the Padma Bridge with his entourage by tolling. Go there and address the public meeting.
