Today (June 27) Khaliajuri Upazila Parishad Chairman Rabbani Jabbar; The relief materials were distributed through a program in the presence of Khaliajuri Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) AHM Ariful Islam, Major Jisanul Haider. Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Department Mostafa Jabbar, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Netrakona Anjana Khan Majlis and Board Member of Huawei Bangladesh Jason Lee were present as chief guests online this time.
After Sylhet and Sunamganj, the recent floods have affected Netrakona. Residents of 39 unions of six upazilas of Netrokona district have been affected by floods due to the rise of water in the main rivers of Netrokona district. Many houses, roads and educational institutions have been damaged by floods in Netrokona Sadar Upazila, Barhatta, Purbadhala, Khaliajuri, Kalmakanda and Durgapur. Also, some areas along the river are facing erosion.
In this situation, as a responsible company, Huawei has extended its hand of support to these people who are facing adverse situations. As part of the organization's initiative titled 'In Bangladesh, For Bangladesh – Here For You', relief materials were distributed among the flood-affected people of Netrokona Upazila. Daily essential food items including rice, lentils, potatoes, food saline, sugar and flour are being distributed among the flood-affected families.
Post and Telecommunication Department Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, "Huawei has been contributing positively to the development of the country's information technology sector for the past few years. In addition, the organization is also coming forward to help the people affected by the disaster in Bangladesh by taking various initiatives. This initiative of Huawei for the flood affected people is proof of that.”
Regarding this, Huawei Bangladesh board member Jason Lee said, "For the past few days, a significant part of the people of Bangladesh has suffered from floods. As an organization existing in Bangladesh, we felt the responsibility to stand by them. So as part of our initiative 'In Bangladesh, For Bangladesh – Here For You' we have organized this relief programme. I know our efforts cannot erase their immense suffering but can be quite helpful in their struggle.”
Khaliajuri Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) AHM Ariful Islam said, “My gratitude to Huawei for standing by the flood-affected people of Netrakona. In a time when many people's lives are at risk due to floods, companies like Huawei and various government initiatives have renewed hope. These relief items will help them get through this difficult time and lead a normal life.”
