But Ivan Alonso is also worried about the future of this 12th century village. Despite its beauty and special historical note, the village is slowly disappearing. The population of the village has dwindled to less than 50.

Ivan Alonso said the village has changed a lot in the last 30 years. Earlier, the village was full in summer. We used to come here every weekend with many friends. Fewer people come now. However, due to the welfare of tourists, the village is seeing a crowd again. If the number of fans increases further, the village will benefit a lot. There has been no school for many years. No young family lives in this village. Ivan also meets the local church bell ringer, Antonio Sais. This 81-year-old man has lived in the village of Puentedei all his life.

While reminiscing, he said that today's village has nothing in common with the previous one. Earlier there was farming and even animal husbandry. But in the sixties and seventies of the last century, the situation changed completely. Then the importance of farming also decreases. Due to such neglect, people started looking for work in the industrial sector. Of course the city of Bilbao has many industries.

To make the village of Puentedei attractive again to the younger generation, Ivan Alonso organizes a festival called La Cucania in the summer with others.

He further said that the participants come from the village and outside. In this game you have to try to catch a flag from a pole 5-6 meters high. The problem is that the shaft is oiled. That's why you have to be very careful to catch the flag without slipping. Ivan Alonso has not yet given up hope about his village. Everyone hopes that the new recognition will bring additional opportunities in the development of the village.

He believes that the village of Puentedei, with only 50 people at present, will not be wiped out. I am among them. Even though I am not here all year, my name is registered in the village. I think that the village will not disappear at all because not only the beauty, but also the roots of many people in Puentedei. They also certainly do not want the death of the village. This beautiful, almost extinct village wants to be attractive only for tourists, but it is not.
